I did a little research today at the library... okay a ton of research thought it would be cool for the site. I was inspired by the History of APSC presentation I missed. I'll attach the images. The dates from the post gazette are in the file names. I'll make an Instagram post as well.
Tragedy struck Pine Creek in 1979 when a massive cyanide discharge wiped out an estimated 740,000 fish and most aquatic life. The company responsible paid a mere $14,000 to restock, but the impact was devastating. For groups like the Allison Park Sportsmen's Club, it felt like losing their home.
Our dedicated members, like Charles Kolich, had spent five years preparing that stream, only to see it destroyed overnight. This shocking event underscores why local conservation-minded groups are so incredibly vital! We're the eyes and ears on the ground, the relentless advocates for our natural resources, and the hands that help restore what has been lost.
The fight for clean water and healthy ecosystems never truly ends. Join us in protecting our local waterways and ensuring a vibrant future for wildlife and our community. Every voice and every effort counts!
