Kurt’s bio:

Kurt Shaffer is the owner of PGH FLY CO based out of New Kensington Pennsylvania. Kurt started PGH FLY CO in the winter of 2023 as a fun project, hoping to ship out a couple dozen of flies a week. Since then, PGH FLY CO has become a recognizable name in the industry for their signature patterns, tools, and materials. There are currently Six fly shops around the country carrying PGH FLY CO products, customers in all 50 states, and 12 countries. Kurt has made it his personal mission to provide quality products and materials.


Pattern
Kurt will be teaching how to tie the KO Shiner for the first time. The KO Shiner is a small streamer made to resemble an emerald shiner. The pattern dates back in its original form to 2018. Since then it’s gone through five additional redesigns before reaching its current version. To make this streamer, Kurt documented baitfish sizes and species in three different streams for over a year. The attention to size and detail has made this pattern a top producing pattern.

PWWTU will supply all of the materials for the fly.

White and Olive 6/0 (140) thread will be needed.

We should have a few extra tools and materials for those interested in starting (or continuing) to tie flies, so just show up and learn from the group!
