March 2026 Meeting
Speaker: Alex Toner - Friends of the Riverfront
Director of Trail Stewardship
Alex is interested in engaging communities, building relationships, and empowering all persons to enjoy and preserve our outdoors. Prior to joining Friends he worked for nine years at the University of Pittsburgh, most recently as the Assistant Director of Community Engagement, where he strived to support and grow positive relationships with community-based organizations, neighborhood associations, resident leaders, local government, and business owners. For several years he worked as a records manager and archivist. He sharpened his non-profit skills by earning a master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs in 2022, and prior to that a Masters of Library and Information Science from Pitt in 2011 and a Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in 2008. He was born and raised in Meadville, PA and has lived in Pittsburgh for 14 years – currently in Gibsonia with his wife and two daughters. You may find him stewarding his own property, at the playground with his girls, canoeing the tri-state area, or reading comics.
Our mission
